A General Purpose Line of Credit (GPLC) simplifies and standardises export transactions. It is a prearranged package which the exporter simply has to adjust to their particular requirements.
The most common GPLC is signed by Fortis Bank Nederland and a foreign financial institution. This credit line enables the foreign bank to grant hard currency credit facilities to your buyer. However, a GPLC can also be signed by an industrial corporate with a regular flow of export finance transactions.
Before prospecting foreign markets, you are advised to ask for our list of GPLCs. They might just give you the leverage you need to secure export contracts.
